Luke comes off as a friendly and cheerful person, often reminding people of a particularly excited dog most of the time. While he’s personable, he only has a few close friends he values deeply. He can be teasing and prideful, and his ego comes out at the oddest of times, but he’s also easy to fluster.Despite this sunny demeanor, Luke also hides great sorrow and suffering, sometimes wishing he never existed in the first place. He also has a shadow of a personality in the form of Raven, who is cold, stern, and brutal.

A writer with his head in the clouds who’s always wondered when he’ll find the one.A short but not-so-sweet best friend to Luke. His strength lies in his words—he’d been writing ever since he was a child. Later on, this interest would bring him to his chosen college major and career track, but outside of the professional setting, he scrawls his passions into sappy fanfiction, whimsical original stories, and poetry that is always striving to grasp the emotions he feels. He thinks he’s nothing special, and to an extent, that’s true. But he’s always believed in the beauty of the mundane, and hopes that someone can see him that way too.He’s a bit shy, but those who know him attest that he brings comfort and peace to every moment. He’s tried a myriad of activities, and he’s not good at a lot of them, but as the saying goes: a jack of all trades, master of none, better than a master of one. Zak comes off as a reserved but nervous person, often reminding people of a particularly anxious dog that does NOT wanna go for walkies but is trying not to make that too obvious. Still, he tries to remain friendly, and he’s able to connect with people who he has shared interests with. He can be sly and sarcastic, once you get to know him, and he’s devastatingly easy to fluster, though he hides it a bit more well. Not on purpose, he just doesn’t know how to express emotions outwardly very well.Despite his skittishness, he is very loyal to his friends. He sometimes falls into deep depressive states, where he becomes gloomy and self-destructive. However all in all, his demeanor tends to stay consistent.

Zak is fresh out of college and working his first job at Pax's Advertising Department. Luke has recently returned to Stellis from Central.The two meet at a local mixer event organized by a transgender organization. Luke was forced to go by Aaron, the latter stating that he needs to go out more and meet friends who aren’t just NSB colleagues. Zak was gently urged by a buddy to go, the latter stating that it’d be good for him to get to know new people IRL, in addition to having online fandom friends.The two end up at the event, awkwardly standing at the far edge of the cafe, and by virtue of being the two shyest attendees, they end up talking with each other out of sheer anxiety. It’s awkward but it becomes more natural and engaging when the two of them bond over shared interests. They exchange numbers at the event and begin a friendship, one that feels cozy and well-worn, as if it was always meant to happen..    PRE-RELATIONSHIP TIMELINE (2029-2030).    .
Zak Realizes His Feelings: Zak realized he had feelings for Luke very early on in their friendship. How could he not fall for Luke? Luke’s aura felt like morning sunshine after a cold evening, talking to him felt like a ball of yarn unraveling into endless threads of conversation, and hanging out with him made Zak happy.Luke GETS Feelings But Doesn’t Realize What They Are: For Luke, it was… a bit more convoluted. He’s always been good with intuiting the feelings of others, but his own feelings were harder for him to understand. He knew that he loved hanging out with Zak, he knew that he didn’t ever want Zak to leave his life, he knew that Zak’s personality felt like… Pop Rocks—fireworks, sweetness, and a nostalgic comfort that lingers.The Casual Kiss Incident: Luke lets this feeling inside of him sit, and for a while, he doesn’t unpack it. He overthinks 99% of his life, and his time with Zak is the only space he has where he doesn’t overthink. Until one day, when they’re at his place just leaning against each other and playing video games together—Luke kisses Zak. Just for a second. On the cheek, short and sweet.The Calm Before The Storm: They don’t talk about it. Neither of them bring it up and their friendship continues as it usually does, but sometimes Luke finds himself staring at Zak for too long; Luke finds himself thinking about warm mornings and gentle evenings, Luke finds himself wanting to be closer, closer than what they currently are. The yearning grows on both sides, with Zak just holding back on what he already knows and Luke slowly falling deeper and deeper, until—Realization / Mountains: Zak and Luke go on a hiking date together, exploring the trails of Cloudbreak Mountain. It’s a fun day. Despite not being the most physically fit person, Zak loves nature, and they enjoy each other’s company while trekking through the forest. When they reach the top, they enjoy the view, and under the midday sunlight as Zak is talking about how he loves mountains, Luke is struck by the fact that he wants to see all the mountains Zak wants to explore. And through that, he realizes that he loves him.Typical Luke Repression: Luke puts these feelings in a locked steel box in his mind. He can’t let Zak know. How could he? The worst thing isn’t that he’d be rejected, it’s that these feelings could be reciprocated and Luke ends up trapping Zak in a relationship with him. Luke comes with so much baggage from his past, his current health issues, his secrets, the skeletons in his closet. He doesn’t want to inflict himself on Zak, so he keeps it a secret.He Deserves To Know He’s Loved: Zak’s feelings are reaching critical levels and he comes to the decision he wants to tell Luke. Not to be reciprocated, but because… at this point in their friendship, he knows Luke retreats into dark places in his mind, just like Zak does during his depressive episodes. He knows Luke hates himself, thinks himself as a blotch of darkness in a world of sunlight. He wants to tell Luke because he thinks Luke deserves to know that he’s loved. Zak decides to tell Luke.The Giggly Drunk Incident: Particularly, Zak decides to tell Luke once he’s gotten himself drunk as fuck. Because Zak is an idiot. Zak invites Luke to a karaoke place and Zak was planning on confessing via love song, but then he got too drunk to do that and ended up all giggly and leaning against Luke while drunkenly singing Linkin Park. When both their voices are too hoarse from non-stop singing, Zak falls asleep leaned against Luke’s shoulder, but before he passes out, he tells Luke that he’s got feelings for the detective.The Reply: Luke watches Zak fall asleep after making his confession. He waits until Zak’s eyes have closed and his breathing evens out into sleep. Then, Luke presses a kiss to the top of Zak’s head, quietly murmuring “Me too. I… I love you too.”The (Sober) Confession: So Zak totally heard that confession and confronts Luke about it the next day. [THIS PART IS STILL A BIT BLURRY TO ME BUT] They definitely get into an argument about it because Luke thinks Zak should find someone else, someone better, someone who can make him happier. This makes Zak cry. They make up somehow and smooch after the argument.Yay: They’re boyfriends now!.    GENERAL STATE OF RELATIONSHIP.    .
Luke and Zak share a very casual and comfy boyfriend/boyfriend relationship. Most of their dates happen at one of their homes: ordering takeout, putting on a movie or gaming together, and cuddling.Sometimes though, Zak is completely bamboozled when Luke plans devastatingly romantic or awesomely thrilling dates. Sometimes it’s an idyllic picnic out in a lush valley, sometimes it’s laser tag followed by rock climbing followed by skateboarding followed by Zak calling for a timeout because he’s wheezing like crazy.However, Zak is puzzled and worried about Luke’s secretive nature about his third occupation. He knows that Luke has one, but Luke says he’s bound by an NDA and can’t talk about it. (Essentially, Luke is keeping both the NXX Investigation Team and the NSB a secret. Uh oh!).    DURING RELATIONSHIP TIMELINE (2030-onwards).    .
Cracks Starting To Show: Luke and Zak enjoy their relationship together, but then at some point in 2030, Luke gets more busy with his secretive third occupation. Zak tries not to pry, he really does, but it’s… hard. Luke cancels a few dates, he says he’s busy on a lot of days, and worst of all, sometimes he shows up to Zak’s place looking exhausted and sporting bruises or injuries. Zak anxiously thinks up of countless explanations but none of them seem to fit. And Luke seems so hellbent on keeping it a secret…I Want To Help: It’s not that Zak doesn’t trust Luke. It’s just that he’s worried. Luke is obviously doing something difficult and dangerous, and it breaks Zak’s heart that he can’t help his boyfriend with this in any way, because Luke is keeping Zak shut out.It’s Not Safe: Zak confronts Luke about this at some point. He talks about how he always wants to be there for Luke, but Luke won’t let him help. Luke apologizes but says that he’s keeping all this a secret to keep Zak safe. This only worries Zak more: “So what you’re saying is that, whatever you’re doing, isn’t safe for you either?” Luke doesn’t have any good reply for it but he promises to keep himself as safe as he can, and for now, that has to be enough.
Shadows: It all comes to a head when Zak is walking home and he’s suddenly attacked by [some low level grunt connected to an NSB case Luke is doing]. The grunt talks about “Oh so you’re the one who’s special to that pesky Agent. I bet he’d back off if you were on the line." Luke immediately arrives and expertly disarms and beats up that guy to pieces. Zak is in shock. Not just because he was literally just attacked, but because the Luke that came to his rescue appears to be a completely different kind of Luke he’s never seen before—sharp as a knife, cold like steel, dark as shadow. Before the grunt passes out, he curses at Luke, calling him “Raven.”Meeting Raven: They go back to Zak’s place and Luke—no, Raven explains himself. He comes clean about how he’s an NSB Agent and part of the NXX Investigation Team. He explains this all with an almost clinical coldness in his tone, no-nonsense, straight to the point, but when he gets to the end, a little glimmer of Luke shines through when he haltingly asks Zak if that he understands if Zak wants to break up over this. Zak would be safer after all, if he did. People go after those closest to Luke, and that wouldn’t happen if they weren’t involved. Zak does not want to break up, and instead vows to be by Luke’s side no matter what. Whether he’s Luke or Raven, whether he’s a caring boyfriend or a cold and brutal agent, Zak’s here for him.Moving Forward: Luke doesn’t tell Zak all the details of his work due to confidentiality, but he doesn’t shut Zak out anymore. He lets Zak help from time to time with things he can help with. Zak doesn’t pry too much, but he trusts that Luke will indeed be as safe as he can be. After all, Luke promised he’d always come home. There will definitely be more bumps along the way, but they’re here for each other through thick or thin..    FUN FACTS.    .

If Zak ever joins the NXX Investigation Team, Sparrow would be his codename.Luke doesn’t speak Filipino, but since he knows a little bit of Spanish, he’s able to pick out certain words when Zak speaks Filipino.Luke and Zak share a fondness for fast food, which is detrimental in the long run. Luke is the one who puts his foot down for the both of them and declares when they need to eat a more nutritious meal.Luke knows that fandom exists but he’s not actively in it. He’s accepting of Zak’s involvement and passion of it, but he can’t bring himself to read any of Zak’s smut because he’s too shy. Also, he can’t wrap his head around the concept of platonically sharing NSFW headcanons. Like. What.Luke has Peanut and Zak has Gato, and obviously the bird and the cat can never meet. Both of them ask a friend to petsit whenever the other is over.Zak works at Pax, and often curses out Marius von Hagen whenever he’s stressed with work. Luke finds this entertaining but he’s also struck with an odd protectiveness, sometimes telling Marius to Do Something about Pax Advertising Department’s workload.Thanks to Luke’s motorbike, Zak often jokingly calls Luke his personal Angkas rider. Luke does not know what that means.
